VCN boasts a network of 3,000 nationally trained local volunteers through the Armed Police Force and 8,000 youth volunteers across Nepal's seven provinces. Our Act-First strategy ensures immediate disaster response with volunteers trained in first aid, paramedics, search & rescue, and firefighting. We involve national volunteers in preparedness, deployment during crises, rehabilitation, and continuous training for effective disaster response, focusing on Localization, Learning, and Leadership. International volunteers enroll with VCN to support our initiatives by sharing their expertise and participating in capstone and practicum activities.
VCN, Nepal's first humanitarian organization, is committed to developing and training local community volunteers, as well as community-based organizations, with essential skills for disaster preparedness. Additionally, VCN leads the LOCAL Nepal initiative to bring together Nepalese grassroots NGOs and stakeholders on a single platform, promoting coordinated humanitarian responses led by local actors and seeking sustainable solutions for communities facing possible risks.
International volunteers join VCN for capstone and practicum activities, particularly in Emergency Disaster Services and development projects focused on agriculture, education, health, shelter, and WASH. The international volunteer program enhances the exchange of learning and raises global awareness.
